Does Australia accept translations done in Nepal?

Yes. The Department of Home Affairs accepts translations prepared outside Australia provided the translator is qualified and signs a certification declaration. Do I also need a notarised copy of the original?

Some migration agents request a notarised true copy of the Nepali original alongside the translation. We provide both in one visit — translation plus notarised copy — so you can satisfy any requirement.

How long does it take?

Can I email a scanned copy?

Yes for the translation. However, some visa categories require the original to be sighted. We will advise you based on your specific visa type when you contact us.

Does my birth certificate need apostille or MoFA attestation for Australia?

No. For Australian visa applications, a certified English translation is sufficient — MoFA attestation and apostille are not required. Some skills assessment bodies and universities may have additional requirements, but the Department of Home Affairs accepts certified translation alone. If your document will also be used for a purpose outside immigration, call us and we will advise on the additional steps.

My birth certificate has a different spelling of my name than my passport. What should I do?

Name discrepancies between Nepali birth certificates and passports are very common due to transliteration differences. We translate your name exactly as it appears on the birth certificate, and note the discrepancy. Most migration agents recommend accompanying the translation with a name discrepancy affidavit notarised by a Notary Public — we provide both the translation and the affidavit in one visit to our Chabahil office.
