What is a Notary Public in Nepal?
A notary public in Nepal is a licensed legal officer registered with the Nepal Notary Public Council under the Notary Public Act 2063 (2006). Notaries are authorised by the Government of Nepal to witness signatures, certify true copies of original documents, administer oaths, and attest affidavits and declarations for use before courts, government bodies, and foreign embassies.
In Nepal, only registered Notary Publics — not ordinary lawyers or advocates — can produce notarised documents accepted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) at Singhdurbar and by international institutions. A document notarised by a registered Notary Public carries an official seal and signature that embassies in Kathmandu recognise as legally valid.
Hamro Notary is a registered notary public office at Chabahil, Kathmandu, providing same-day notarisation, certified translation, and embassy attestation services for clients throughout the Kathmandu Valley and Nepal.
